Les Ecrehous
Les Ecrehous are a group of islands off the NE coast of Jersey half way between Jersey and France. At low tide there are miles of sandbanks and pools, at high tide there are dozens of rocky outcrops and two small Islands with buildings on them, Marmotiere and Maitre Ile. The smaller of the two, Maitre Ille, accomodates 15 or so huts most of which are no bigger than a large garden shed. They are separated by narrow paths and enjoy spedctacular views of Jersey and France and unbeatable solitude (when the visiting yachtsmen go home!)
The larger Marmotiere island has one substantial granite cottage and is home to hungdreds of nesting Terns and Cormorants in the breeding season.
